Hello I recently picked up this guy, a mixture of really clean and really knackered. Looks like someone bought it, used it LOADS and then put it on a shelf for 30 years. Not in bad shape, choke nob is missing, carb fuel line has deteriorated and heavily faded to an almost pink. I think this is an early saw of its type, let me know what you think on that? Had a spark tester on it, the coil is building charge but plug is not sparking. I know this as I managed to give myself a little shock! The wiring looks fine, also put a new plug in. Turns out finding parts for this in the UK is harder than other Homelites :/ I do have the muffler Thoughts? Any additional information / history on this type of saw is appreciated. Thanks Daniel

Nice. The ignition points likely need a cleaning and be reset.
Is there a tag somewhere on the saw with a serial number?
Cool loom back behind.

Welcome to the House of Homelite.
Nice saw. Yes, you might have trouble finding parts but they are available in the US.
The spark will knock you silly if it is hot enough to spark in the cylinder under compression. It takes a lot more to do that than for you to feel it.
I would bet fossil is right about the points, you need to clean them of oxide that collects during storage and gap them properly. Most times that will return the spark to a long stored saw.
If you replace ALL the fuel line, including in the tank, I bet you have a runner there.
Keep us posted, we like success stories.
