hello i am rebuilding a xl925 and it has the 1 piece ignition and i have noticed that the spark is not really that strong with the plug ... i did put a new plug into it ....but when i put my spark tester on it it lights up even with a very slow pull anybody have any ideas its my first 925 it does start but dies only runs for a few seconds then shuts down thanks

Starting and running for a few seconds then dying out sounds more like fuel delivery to me. When it starts to die out, can you revive it with the choke? If so, I'd be looking at fuel filter, fuel lines, carb inlet screen, diaphragms and general cleanliness of the carb itself. Have you looked inside it? Maybe it's gunked up from fuel sitting in it. Just some places to start.

i rebuilt the carb and pressure tested it and it holds and new kit new lines and filter .....will take it back out maybe got some crap up and in it

So it sounds like it starts when you choke it? Then it dies out lean? If everything is ok in the fuel system, you could be looking at a vacuum leak. If so, crank seals and intake manifold are a couple of good places to start looking.

hello i put all new crank seals and intake gaskets and its still doing the same thing ....so today i pressure checked the block .... blocked off carb and muffler it hold pressure really good no leaks but but it will not hold vacume at all i did not spray any soapy water yet .....i just am not sure why it would hold pressure but not vacume ....first time i have check crank case pressure / vacume on a saw
