Greetings fellow enthusiasts! I decided today to take a look at a Super 2 again that I've never been able to get running. Spoiler alert...It's still not running. :-). I'm pretty sure I rebuilt the carb. in one of my attempts to get it running, so today I tried the pressure test on it. The carb is a Walbro HDC 48A. It's only got one jet on it. I checked on line and here for instructions, and all I could find was attaching a line to the gas inlet, pump it up to 5-6 pounds and see if it holds pressure. After making sure my adapters weren't leaking, I got the carb hooked up and no drain for 10 seconds. I also "looked" at the check valve, and wish I would have read the post here on remove and replace, but I'm not sure I would know a bad one if I saw one..It didn't look very flat with my jewelers magnifier. The saw will fire on choke, but doesn't stay running at all. I changed spark plugs with another Super 2 I have and it ran the longest, maybe 30 seconds while I tried to adjust Hi/Lo jet. I have approximately 120 PSI cold saw. I tried unscrewing jet 1 turn, and every increment of 1/4 up to 2 or more, and each time adjusting choke. Any idea's what I should look at next? I'm going to get a check valve, and new plug.... cylinder and piston look very good through the muffler port... TIA R&R

I just spent about an hour a day for the last week to get my XL-2 up and running. It needed a total tear down for crank seal replacement. I had it running back in January and shelved it until now.
After putting it back together I had the same problem. Same carb as well. I went through everything again and was able to get it running good after a lot of messing around.
I’m not sure what the main problem was for me but I would start with pulling out the carburetor and give it a good clean it out if you haven’t already done so.
Check the duck bill in the fuel tank. Check the fuel filter and lines.
Those carbs seem very picky. I had a hard time getting it enough fuel to get through the low circuit until the high picks up without bogging but trying to not be too rich to idle. Maddening really.
Let us know how you make out!
