Hello members, I am a new member and I am trying to rebuild my dad's Homelite Super XL Automatic chainsaw that he bought back around 1970. The model tag is stamped AO and the SN is 13081823. This is the the original sprocket and drum, so it was slipping and definitely needs to be replaced. The drum is stamped with the number A59553-1, but I am not having much luck referencing this to anything. Dad bought one that he thought would fit a couple years ago, but it was not the correct one and will not fit. So I am trying to find a cross reference to a sprocket and drum that is available. I will also need to replace the bearing and bushing I would assume if they are not included already in a kit. Anything else that I might look at replacing why I am going through this saw? Over the years it has been a great saw and it has sawed a lot of big and small trees. Dad said he even did one that was about 5' across.... wow since I know he is not one to embellish! Also, I have tried to date this, but using a java script that someone posted, but the date was not correct. If someone knows what this date might be, I would be curious of the DOM date. I know it was bought around 1970 since I was about 1yr old and he did his original cutting on 13 giant elm trees since one morning he found a big limb laying on the sidewalk one morning where I could be playing at some point. Thanks in advance for all the assistance! Attachments:

No, that is not how this one mates with the chain. This diagram shows how Super XL connects, but this manual from Leon's Chainsaw Parts & Repair calls this sprocket and drum as a PN A59552 (https://www.leonschainsawpartsandrepair.com/store/p5474/NOS_Homelite_C-52%2C_Super_XL%2C_XL-12%2C_XL-500%2C_XL-700%2C_XL-701%2C_XL-701AM_Chainsaw_3%2F8%22_Spur_Sprocket_A-59552.html) which is a Standard-7 tooth, 3/8" pitch. That might be the same, but the stamped PN on my sprocket and drum was slightly different (A59553-1). But still I am trying to do my diligence and verify before trying to buy to make sure that this A59553-1 was not something a little different. Appreciate the look and link! Attachments:

Is it slipping because the sprocket teeth are worn through ? , or due to drum/clutch wear ?
Internal Diameter of an A-59553 drum/spur is 3.100 "

The sprocket does need replacing . A-59552 is the same as A-59553-1 , but includes the 72311 needle bearing. A visual inspection of how far the clutch shoes are worn below the clutch plate outer diameter will determine if they need replacing. They are relatively inexpensive and available .. 63052 . Check out the SUPER XL Family of saws category .. lots of good info there ; houseofhomelite.proboards.com/board/41/super-xl-12-family

onlyhomlites, I had the chance to follow up on this a little today. Stens makes a PN 085-0577 (Pro Spur Sprocket) to fits Homelite A95459 3/8" 7T (they say the A95459 is no longer available). This already comes with the needle bearings, but do not have dimensions to know the dimensions are right for the 65746-B inner race..... by chance do you know? Otherwise I might order this and have to measure it up to get the correct inner race. Appreciate in advance for all the help by everyone!

The Stens sprocket definitely uses the 65746-B race.
