So I spent the better part of the long weekend bucking up the 3 trees from my yard. I used my C-91 & XL-123 and both worked flawlessly at first, my 123 started to get really hot and started to smoke from around the cylinder area. I really hadn't used this saw after the fuel line and carb kit was replaced but now I'm wondering what could be the issue! Both the auto and manual oiler work fine and I don't have any chip buildup around the clutch or flywheel so I'm not sure why it's smoking, not a ton but visible. Looks as though I'll have to tear her down completely and start from scratch. Happy 4th of July and God bless America 🇺🇸

Check your needle settings. If the lo is set too lean the saw will overheat & burn up the engine.

There could be a buildup of oil in the muffler that is burning off...this usually indicates a bit on the rich side. Had the saw sat for a while (like long enough for fuel to evaporate and leave oil behind in the fuel tank)?

Ok here's the skinny on the saw; I took it apart to find that the cylinder was covered with oil and wood dust so that might be the source of the smoking and overheating. It looks as though the decomp is passing mix from a weep hole. I took the decomp piston out and polished it off and copper brushed the decomp its self. I'm going to remove the cylinder and check the P&C for any transfer or terrible scoring but it looks ok, slight scratches on piston from exhaust port but not that bad. I'll give it a quick hone and clean the piston. I'm going to salvage the two gaskets and make new ones. Pictures to follow!

PICTURES ADDED; It looks worse than it is due to the fact that I added 80/90wgt oil to coat everything. The marks aren't all that deep but it seems the pics make it look like crap 🤔
