I remember when I got mine in early March 2019 I was really excited. My 923 needed a new recoil rope as well & it needed the compression release lever.I also had to replace the throttle lock that was broken internally.I think mine had the HS96 (?) carb that I rebuilt.I originally put a 24 in.bar & chain on it,but when my 925 went down I took the 28 in.bar & chain off it & put it on the 923.The 923 is the same cc's as the 925 at 82,so it pulled the 28 without a problem.Once you get the 923 fired up for the first time you'll fall in love with itIt's possible it might be a 923FP,in which case if it is,then definitely KEEP IT!

What’s the difference between a 923 and a 923fp?

The 923FP (floating power) is an anti-vibe saw, quite revolutionary considering when it was made (early '70's).Leon did a thread on a 923FP that he put in his collection about a yr.ago.

I agree with your assessment Nighthawk, I think it's a XL-923 as well. But it isn't a 923FP...those are VERY obvious!
