I would not suggest changing the carb unless you are very familiar with all the issues that come along with that sort of mod. Why do you want to change the carb?

The carb most people talk about putting on a 450 is the one used on a 550. Walbro SDC-69A. Big reason is the adjustable hi jet. 450s had a fixed hi jet and in combination the blue trigger module that has a rev limiter. The carb and the module were a matched combo, so most people swap the module for a black one if the carb is swapped.

Interesting to find this out.Today I had to swap out the module on my 450 (see my thread) because it was bad.The original module was black,& the one I put on it was blue.I'll have to take a look at the carbs now. I think what the poster was trying to get at here was he wanted to buy a new carb, not knowing (as many new members here don't know) that the carbs can be rebuilt. I just had a conversation with a salesman from the OEM Store about the very same thing. He had no idea that we can rebuild carbs.I told him to join AS & go to the Mac thread to get help for his yellow saw.

Ed, that's interesting that your 450 had a black trigger module. I'd bet money it'd been swapped in the past with a black one. According to the IPLs, all 450s came with the blue coil going along with it's fixed hi jet carb. DM50s had a tan/brown one. All the other 50s (and 360) used the non-limited black one. Who knows what may have went on in the real world, but this is according to the IPLs.
