I bought a 450. 1977 model I love it and wish to restore it. Any suggestions are welcome because what you know I DONT. Carb upgrade? Paint match . Fuel. You tell me PLEASE.

You can always check out TJ's YouTube videos on restoring saws along with Leon at Leon's chainsaw parts and repair. If you look in the restoring area there is a bunch of input from many members who restore. There is a section on paints from Leon and others, nothing perfect unless you pay a lot of money to have it matched. Dupli-color seems to do a real nice job and Leon has posted the colors that closely match. If the carb is in good condition all you should need to do is rebuild it with a new kit, I prefer OEM vs aftermarket. New fuel lines are a must as is the carb boot. If needed a honing isn't a bad idea either.

Both the 450 and XL-925 are good saws, I don’t have either but my XL-98 is based on the SXL-925 and its a dang good machine. The 27av is a little “new” for what we deal with here and will likely not be considered a “real homelite” by most, but still cool nontheless.
