I picked up a 1981 Super XL76. Pretty good shape. It needed a new on/off switch, and a tune up. Whoever had it before me took pretty good care of it. They were great at stripping threads though. Bar studs are rounded a bit and could use a clean up. What thread pitch for 5/16 studs? Also had to swap the carb out. One of the threads in the body of the carb on the inlet side was stripped out. First time I have seen that...not sure how the heck to fix that. Helicoil? I had intended to put a brand new chain on the test cuts but accidentally grabbed a dull one. That explains why I had a hard time cleaning up the four stoking at WOT. Awesome saw though. A great addition to my Terry collection. youtu.be/e0V1_TZfykM

Should be 5/16"x 18, course thread. Does that saw have a plastic intake between the carb and reed block/crankcase? If the embedded nut is pulled or stripped out, then there's not likely a fix, only a replacement part. If a replacement is hard to come by then a repair of some kind will need to be found.
PS. That saw is far better than "Pretty Good Shape".

Same as XL101/102/123/130....we’ll actually some of those early were aluminum I think.Carburetor mounting insert are in good shape. This one is not damaged at all which is rare. I have 6 XL130’s and at least half have cracked blocks. The carburetor mounting inserts are good, but one of the threads in the carburetor body itself are stripped out. Not sure how someone would do that. Possibly the person was like me and has a tendency of over torquing stuff. She is pretty sweet. Thanks!
