Hi, Does anyone have a spare chain oil filler cap for a c-51 please. or can someone tell me what other make chainsaw oil caps will fit? I might even have to make up a bolt for it, so does anyone know the size and thread I would need to do this!
I am also looking for the dog teeth to go on the front of the saw.
Also I would need it posted to Ireland, but can pay via PayPal to anyone who can help.
Thanks.

If I'm not mistaken, any of the oil caps from the C series saws should fit.If you can find an oil cap from a C5,C7,C52,C71,C72,C9,or C91 it should work.Rather than use a bolt,if need be you could use a plug for plumbing.Be careful not to bugger the threads in the saw's tank.

A bolt is the last resort, I have a whiskey cork in their at the moment, but buying whiskey to keep replacing it when it falls out, could get expensive!! So really I should be asking for a c series oil cap. I will change the ad title if I can Thanks for the information.

Here you go,& the seller ships worldwide.
Edit:you'd better hold off on ordering this oil cap.I checked the C51 IPL & it takes a different part # - A64454.All of the C series saws may not all take the same oil cap!
Edit:OK,I checked it out & it'll fit your saw.I also found a cap that our administrator (Leon)has:

I think your chain oil fill cap is SAE 3/4-16 thread . The caps for my Super 1050 , Zip B , AXL AO and XL-12 are all 3/4-16 and fit one another EXCEPT : the cap for the S-1050 is vented and the caps for the Zip , SXL OA and XL-12 are solid . I don't know if the C series oil tank are vented or requite a vented cap . Look at the IPLs and see if a duck bill valve is in the cap like it is in the S-1050 or any other vent like a SXL AO and others
Charles
EDIT : SAE hydraulic -8 fittings are also 3/4-16 thread , a Parker 8PNTX is a solid plug

The original link I sent to you was for an oil fill cap Part # 58339 with a check valve. If you use a 3/4 in.pipe plug as Charles suggested you'll have no vent unless you drill a very fine hole in it (as far as I know).

Some Oil Filler Cap part numbers to help Chainsawlady with the search ; A-64454 - Cap A-64310 - Cap 56509 - Cap 58396 - Bumper Spike Here is one that would have been used on a bow bar model ; www.leonschainsawpartsandrepair.com/apps/search?q=56580I've also seen a plastic oil fill/dipstick cap utilized, from an older Briggs & Stratton lawnmower engine, as an Oil Filler Cap on a C-Series saw , just cut the dipstick portion off .

Do not try a 3/4 PIPE plug , totally different thread size ! The chain oil fill cap is 3/4-16 straight thread , where 3/4" pipe is a tapered thread and much
larger . Only thing to determine is whether the plug needs to be vented or not .
Charles
UPDATE : a IPL for a C-52 shows the cap to be vented and looks like #58807 ( The IPL was very blurry ) and the S-1050 takes # A-63717-C
and both are vented caps .
EDIT 2.0 : Looking at more IPLs , Homelite made a change with the C series saws , earlier versions have a check ball vent in the tank and the later ones
eliminated the tank vent and used the vented cap . You can use a vented cap for all versions , but only a vented cap for the later ones .

Thanks all for the information. I will hit google here in Ireland and see what I can come up with. Hopefully someone will have an original one I can get posted to me. I was thinking of the dipstick idea, and now I know what to look for I might be able to find something that’s better than a cork!
