I was in my back shed looking for another off brand saw when I found a Super 2 with a repair tag on it.Apparently the saw had been repaired & there was a labor charge of $50.For what the guy did I didn't think $50 was too expensive. He changed the plug & fuel filter, cleaned out the saw & it looks like he rebuilt the carb too.All of the parts were in a little baggie that was attached to the saw.I noticed it was missing the carb cover & I looked at what used to be the air filter. It had turned almost to dust.I turned the saw upside down & shook it & had all that disintegrated filter fall out.I then gave it a prime & it firerd right up.Next thing I did was put fuel in the tank to see if it'd draw fuel on it's own & it did.The final test was to put oil in the saw to see if I had another mosquito fogger,I didn't.I do have one question though - are there different carb covers for different UT models?I took a carb cover off another Super 2 I found & it doesn't want to fit.

Wouldn't the new style work on either series? As long as it's not a VI?
The new and improved was a little stiffer iirc. The old style was kinda flimsy and warped up and didn't lock in place as well.

Just wondering here what is being referred to as a "carb cover". Is this the shallow tin cup the foam air filter is in? Or is it the little piece of tin down in the bottom of that tin cup that keeps the foam air filter from being sucked down in to the carb. I have two different Super 2's and the carbs are different makes but otherwise the air filter set up looks the same.
However I have not tried to swap parts between the saws. One is an early 1970's saw and the other is what I think is referred to as a Terry that does have some other minor differences, like the kick back guard and the nut holding the clutch sprocket on where the 1970 model has the snap ring retainer.

The carb cover I'm referring to is the plastic piece on the outside of the saw that gets inter-hooked with the choke lever.Maybe it's called the air filter cover?I didn't bother to look at an IPL to get the correct terminology.
