Fixing up a neglected xl brush cutter. The name tag is gone, so I don't have much information. This homelite was painted orange, and doing research on the various paint options, my xl looks much more orange than red. I think the orange paint is factory, but I'm not sure. The orange was painted over the blue, and very well done with exceptions: the spark plug wire is painted, as are the grommets. Looks like much of the saw was disassembled for painting but not all. Did Homelite repaint saws? Best, danth

Welcome to the House of Homelite.
No repaint, that was done by someone else.
Homelite did use blue, red, and orange/red at different times. The blue would be the earliest, the red the latest. There were quite a few different shades of each over the years and exact matches are tough to come by.

The older redish orange saws faded to an orange color.
