I know a flywheel from a points saw won't work on an electronic ignition saw,BUT will an electronic ignition flywheel work on a points saw?I have a 902AM that has a flywheel with 4 broken fins.It runs fine with no vibration,I'm just thinking as long as I have the 902 apart while putting new points & condenser in,why not put a better flywheel on if I can?

I really don't know but if you do switch them make sure they are the same brand wico or phelon.

Of course!

I would think that as long as the magnets are timed the same it should work, however the taper of the shaft or spacing may be different to account for different ignition setups

First I'll check to see if they're the same brand - Wico or Phelon, then if that passes I'll put the FW fron the 903E onto the 902 & check for spark.Even if the saw has spark, there's no guarantee that it'll run properly. There's also a possibility that I could change over the 903E system to the 902,but only if the crankshafts are the same.

Swapping the flywheels was a no go.The 903E was a Phelon & the 902 flywheel (& entire system) is a Wico.I'll have to investigate more to see if it's possible to swap over the entire 903E system. The way it looked when I pulled the flywheel again today was that the 903E was drilled differently than the 902.

I wasn't talking about the holes in the flywheel.I was talking about under the electronic ignition device that's mounted to the saw under the flywheel. The holes that hold the stator plate on the 902 are in a different spot,& there are only 2 of them, whereas the 903E has 3 holes drilled for mounting.
