Per the XL-130 IPL on Leon's website, it shows part # A-122454 for the coil, does not list the plug wire as a separate part, leading me to believe it may be non-removable. However the syle of coil depicted appears to be identical with the other coils I am familiar with which do have removable plug wires. Many times they use a sealant/glue from the factory which can make the wire very hard to remove.
Maybe post up a pic of the coil?

your saying it unscrews.its the blue coil.just it looks like it made in the coil. If you can post a picture we could definitely confirm that it is snidely that unscrews. I have never seen one on a Homelite that would not.....but there may be some that don’t. Does it appear to be glued or is there some type of sealant on it? I have a XL-130 that had the blue prestolite coil and the plug wire will unscrew from the coil. There is a stud down in the coil that the wire attaches to when you turn it. I find that it’s easiest to remove that wire and reinstall if the whole coil assembly is off the saw. Unscrew the two bolts that hold coil on the the cylinder. Remove the wire to the on/off switch. Spray a bit of wD/40 into the boot and pull it off slowly. Pull the coils wire and coil out from the engine. Grab the coil turn it counter clockwise while holding the wire close to the coil and it should unscrew easily. Do everything in the reverse order once you have a new wire and reset the coil to flywheel air gap with some feeler gauges to 0.006....,.I think it’s 0.006...

Just found the spec in the Homelite service manual. Page 62. Similar models. It doesn’t specifically have Canadian models listed. It shows that coil to flywheel should be set to .004 to .008 inches.

I have always used a business card to set the coil gap. I insert the card then turn the flywheel so the magnets pull the coil in, tighten the screws and pull out the card while turning the flywheel. Whatever works is the way to go.
