Trying to get my bars back on the saws they came off of. Sometimes I'd take a bar off the shelf or another saw for a photo opp. I have two bars that I thought were 24"s. One turned out to be longer than the other. One measures 25" from end to end, the other measures 29" end to end. Does Homelite measure the bar by the actual cutting surface? Is the one that measures 25" from end to end, actually a 19" and the one that meaasures 29" actually a 24"?

Its my understanding that the called out measurement of a bar is the usable bar not including the mount or part that is concealed behind the clutch cover. I think there were many many variations on bar lengths. From what I have seen once the bars hit 20" there were bars with even and odd measurements. I have 20", 21", 24", 28", 30" and 32" myself but I have seen 25" and I think 31" as well. I have one that is called out in the Oregon book as a 32" bar, that was in an old Oregon book. I ran the number through oregons contact on their website a few years back and the representative from Oregon that reached out to me said it was a 30" bar. I have learned just enough about bars, their lengths and their mount patterns to know I don't know much at all lol.

These are both Homelite bars. One came on one of my Dad's 1050's, but there are no marks on them. Just the red paint. I'm not even getting into bars others made. Even if they made them for Homelite!
