I’m thinking that the answer is yes. I just swapped it over to the old points system and replaced the points with a chip. Threw a plug in and it’s sparking nicely. Not getting too excited again though. We will see if it runs for longer than 2 minutes on this flywheel and coil.
I feel like I’m reliving Ed’s super EZ hell that he updated us on over the winter.

They are different. Did you try baking the original coil?

Yup. Nothing changed. So it’s something else.....have one more fix. I’ll update when I finally figure this darn saw out. Next step after this is the shelf of failure.

Alright it’s D-Day for the Super Mini. Ripped down and put a new aftermarket piston in it to see if this will cure its curse. I’ve chased every other possible cause of an erratic/non functioning two stroke engine. It’s been a long PITA process. I have low expectations after a long line of failed attempts. If this doesn’t straighten it up.......I really don’t know what to do next. On a side note this aftermarket piston appears to be a pretty close replica to the original that was pulled. The only apparent difference is in the ring style, ring land spacing( closer together on the aftermarket) and wrist pin design. This one is confined at both ends with retaining rings. I’ll fire later today and see if I’m on the road to another failure......or possibly a victory day....?! youtu.be/-wkBZ1r62pg

Test break in cuts. The chain is a bit dull but it served its purpose. Public service announcement!!!!!No PPE in use. BAD BAD! Damn near displayed exactly why you should wear chaps or pants. The bar nuts started backing off. Luckily I noticed before anything terrible happened. I’m happy with the results of the rebuild for thine being. Need more time with the saw to really test the aftermarket piston. A lot of learning curves on this one. I’ll post some pictures of the aftermarket piston vs original. If it works out good then it’s well worth the $20 chainsawr was selling it for. It’s probably a cheap Chinese POC but if it brings this saw back to life then it’s worth the experiment in my opinion. youtu.be/rUp8ODsLQsk

Nice pictures. Its hard to tell if the distance from the pin to the crown is the same. If they are not the compression ratio will be affected.

I never thought to measure that. The wrist pin placement lols very similar and the outside top of the piston looked very similar.
I never thought to measure the inside distance from wrist pin to the inside top of the piston...

Not the inside, the top compression surface. You can just measure with a caliper from the top of the pin hole to the compression surface. As long as you measure to about the same place and the contours are similar, you could be able to tell if the pin is in the right place.

I had some pretty good success with this saw.....finally. It’s been kicking my butt left and right! I had high expectations that this would be an easy runner based on a few previous saws that I acquired. This one has been anything but simple. Most problems I have to admit have been created by my own inexperience. I now know more about a Super Mini than I did before starting this project. I learned a valuable lesson about the importance of having a adequately sealed air box and a clean fuel tank. Sounds obvious so know......but now I really know! It gave me one last kick though....ran out of bar oil on this cut! These tanks are prey small. Anyway enough of my blabbering....here she is.And I know that this bar is too big for this saw but I wanted to hold this thing WOT at full load to see what it had! youtu.be/a2vk1vX0aCA

Looks pretty good to me. I would suggest that you are safe running that bar but the rakers are perhaps too low, giving the cutters more bite than you have horsepower for. You might want to raise them a little by resharpening.

You might want to raise them a little by resharpening. Ok, I’ll set/check the rakers. It’s nice to have the extra bar. A little less bending over when hack at the smaller stuff. Probably exactly how you hack you leg though! Still a bit of a studder in this saw when you give it a shot and let off. It’s a really picky carb! Possibly the lever is set a tad low or high...Just keep chasing my tail with the jets. Close one a bit then open the other.....then vice versa..I gonna nickname this saw Goldie Locks! It’s gotta be just right.....

Looking to do some seals on all the Super EZ’s owned by the family. Are the SKF4913 superior to the ones Lil Red Barn has on Evilbay? Which ones should I buy? Rather only do this job once. Thanks in advance.

I would personally just buy the SKF. You can trust the quality. Who knows what LRB is selling.
