I have 1 of those Chinese cheap hl carburetors I was going to put it on my old homilite zip. the old carb is causing trouble.was wondering has anyone had any experience with 1 of those cheap knock off?their is also a larger intake hole on the knock off .the original is smaller.was wondering how it will work?that is the big hole in the center of the carberator body ?

I've never tried a knock off on a saw before, but I've had good luck with them on small 4 cycle engines.
How much different is the size? A little bit wouldn't be an issue I don't imagine but a significant difference would probably not work well, if at all.

I would agree with rowdy on this one, too big and there will not be enough velocity through the carb to get the mix right. I also have had good luck with a single $10 carb however, on a 2 cycle ice auger.

The only way to know is to try it. I would think that would be too big however, it might run lean or not at all. Beware of it running lean. Then again it might run just fine.

I have had good and very bad experiences with the knock off carbs. #1 suggestion go thru it and make sure it is assembled correctly and there is no excess casting flashing or misaligned gaskets. The quality control on them is almost nonexistent. you can get a good one first try or sometimes go thru a 1/2 dozen before you get one that works. try it tune it and watch that it stays in tune if it won't hold tune there is likely a manufacturing defect or mismade part in the carb. Hope ya get a good one but don't be suprised if it's a fancy paperweight.

If the knock off carb uses the same gaskets. this is not the case a lot of times but it couldn't hurt to try
