Got a XL901 lately. The rings were rusted and stuck. I used the heat and cool process and got the rings off. Getting ready to reassemble and my question is this. Was a duckbill installed in the tank vent and if so what part number would I use or should the hole be plugged and a vented cap be used instead? Thanks. I went through a similar situation with my 902 & was advised to use a vented cap - much easier.Down the road if we live long enough that duckbill will go bad again.I don't think that when we're approaching 90 that we'll want to tear the saw down again for a $1 duckbill.Lol

Well a vented cap is easier if the duckbill ever goes bad again, but if you avoid ethanol, it probably won't. The tank vent is so easy to repair...put that valve in your vice with the top out, tap the cap out with a small drift pin tool, clean up the go and replace it with a standard 69451. For my saws, if it had a tank vent, it still does when I'm done. Just personal preference I guess!
