I also have a Super EZ AO. Mine was made in 1973 as far as I can tell. I need some info. I took the rod off of the crank to inspect because I thought there might be too much "play" in the bearings. It may be normal for this saw, but I had torn it down to that level, so why not. Well, needless to say, the needle bearings went every where when I removed the rod cap. I need to know how many I am supposed to have. Does anyone have a count. Also, if I am missing some, can they still be obtained. One other thing (for now), the gas tank has pretty severe aluminum oxidation (white powder) in it. What is the best way to get that out? Do I need to take the tank apart? If so, will 1184 work in place of the normal gasket?

It'd probably better to just replace the fuel tank. They're easy to change out, there are 3 screws under the flywheel that need to be removed & 3 screws under the oil pump that need to be removed also.Maybe you already have the tank off?I have several fuel tanks that I can part with. All you'll need to do is pay the postage on the shipping. May put some small nuts in the tank and shake them around to see how far the pitting goes.May have to dissassemble it get it all out. Someone else will have to answer about the 1184 l personally have not used it. I just got a EZ dropped of yesterday. It is an orange one. pix identical to above except no tag inside tag border? no hint of automatic on starter cover. Any visual clues for "automatic"? Any visual cues for "super"? 8.2mm/,312" bar studs feel like it has OK compression will be looking for a new home...
EDIT: Sorry red/orange looks the same 8-|I'm color blind

All the SEZ's were automatic.Only the EZ's were either manual only or manual & automatic. There's only one visual to tell if it's an automatic & that'll be on the right side up under the fuel & oil tank cover will have an oil line coming out to go to the oil pump. You might have to take the drivecase cover off to see the oil line. Something else of interest - the EZ's came with steel front handles that had a thin vinyl coating on them, whereas the SEZ's came with rubber coated front handles. If the crack by the tensioner screw isn't a giant gaping crack, you could possibly get away with JB Welding it & be fine.I'd have to see a pic of it to determine any further. Ed

The crack on mine is all the way around the 2 bar stud holes, if you sneezed on it the whole cover would fall off, but the bar would still be tight.

You could try to get it welded,or buy a used one on Feebay for around $15.I know $15 is pretty much what you paid for the entire saw.Lol But the dang parts game is a costly one.

Mark, on AS, just sent me a box of EZ parts. One complete saw with scored p/c. I'm pretty sure I saw a cover in the pics. Should be here in a day or so.

I got Marks care package. The complete saw has a chip in it, so I'm assuming it was a points saw. I have a blue EZ missing all of the ignition and flywheel. Can I swap the flywheel and parts from the new Red donor onto my old Blue saw? The red serial is 283130363, the Blue one is 22771216.

Since the Red donor is a Super, maybe I'll just stick a new chip in it and see what happens.

Most if not all of the EZ's had Phelon ignition systems, only some of the SEZ's had Phelon systems, the rest were Wico. You can change the Phelon to a Wico if you want,I just did it about 3 weeks ago.Keep in mind that you must change EVERYTHING from one system to another (points box, points, condenser, flywheel,& coil). You can't mix & match. It doesn't really take that long to do either as long as you have all your parts ready.

He said it was "scored", but not bad, didn't know if it would run. I haven't had time to look yet.
