Hello all,I tried to fire up my 450 today for the first time in almost 2 yrs.The saw has so much compression that I put my foot on the handle brace & then pull the recoil. After about the 3rd pull the handle brace just broke off. After further inspection I could see that 1/2 had been broken for quite some time & someone tried to remedy (?) the problem by taking a rawhide shoestring & wind it around the brace.I'd never really noticed it before. This was my first Homelite saw that I bought back in Dec.2017 which led me to join here.I'm fairly certain that I have another brace from another parts saw around here somewhere.I'd just like to know if the handle braces are accustomed to breaking very easily? They are definitely prone to breaking, I’ve seen quite a few broke and just bought a 550 with same piece broke.

I guess that's why I didn't see a lot of them on Feebay or elsewhere.

Yep, the design on the 450/550 & 650/750 handle brace has to be the weakest link in both series. I know guys that have searched for YEARS for the 650/750 one!

That would be the day that I'd wait for yrs.for a part that could be fabricated,& the fabricated part would be much better than the original. I found another handle brace that I was fairly sure I had.Putting it on was a giant PITA.I found that I had to put the rear screw on first, then put the 2 bottom screws on.Now I have to pull the carb for a rebuild.I also think I'll take the 30 in.bar off that I put on it 2 yrs.ago.
