Hello im currently working on a C-72 which uses the one big reed valve. Ive heard that with a lil modification that a pyramid reed setup from a XP series of saw could be retro fit into the ole C-72 . The issue is knowing which XP series of reed valve i need to seek out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking at the IPL for both saws, the intake port that is machined in the throttle handle looks significantly different between the C-72 and the XP-1000. It's different enough that the part #'s are not the same. If a reed cage from the XP-1000 did drop into place, you would also need to use the intake elbow from the XP-1000. It's possible it would work relatively easily, but since I have not done it, I can't say for certain.

Thanks Leon , I received your email and ordered those reed related items . Its been years since I read about the C-series reed upgrade, so a lot of the details I've since forgotten. I do remember that some modification was required to get the reed cage to physically fit ... Ill be sure to start a thread on the saw build and document the process .... Thanks again.

I recieved my parts today and everything looks great . The parts lined up without issue . Looks like the only thing i will have to do is tap a couple holes to add threads where there currently isnt any (holes are there, just no threads) .... Super stoked!

Glad it all fits! Any chance you took a few pics along the way? This would be a good thread to keep in the C-series forum in case other owners want to do this upgrade.

I'm afraid those links aren't coming up for me...I don't think they are the "public" links.

The links work OK for me, they take a while to load on my slow connection.
All the links could be included in a single posting. I realize there are quite a few steps to each getting each link, just a suggestion for when you get more familiar with the process.
Nice shots.
