It's a beauty !! Although there is one on the UT list already, this one is earlier. I was hoping someone here would get that one, I couldn't decisively make out the first digit of the serial number from the ad. Congratulations !
Added to the List; +UT:50054 ( VI-200 ) SN:3215T244 .. DOM; Friday, August 3rd, 1973, unit 244

Hi Leon,
Does that version have a points ignition? I figure the jump to the "super" might have been the progression to the blue coil or the red chip, I don't remember what's in mine.

Well, I've added another long sought after saw to my collection. This VI-200 came from the Ebay seller up in VT. A thorough cleaning, carb kit and fuel hose got it going. I was hoping this saw would add to the UT list, but there was already a 50054. Maybe next time! Homelite VI-200 (b)Homelite VI-200 (c)Homelite VI-200 (d)
I like the “ Parle francais” on the starter side. Definitely a Quebec model.

The air filter cover is incorrect for a VI-200, appears to be an XL-130 cover. The rear corners of the cover are contacting the A/V mount, there should be some clearance between the cover and mount. It will transmit vibration, but more important, prevents a good seal on the air filter. The original cover is recessed/notched in that area about 1/8" deep... level with the flange that contacts the air filter.
VI-200 IPL:122248 shows what the cover should look like, as do pictures of fossil's Super VI-200.
With the original cover installed on my SVI-200 there is a good 1/16" or more clearance in that area, an XL-130 cover gives no clearance and does not contact the filter.
I'll take some dimensions to enable a modification to the existing cover as the 63183-6T covers are difficult to find. It's one of those instances where the part number suffix makes a big difference.

Son of a gun! I completely missed that detail! I look forward to the dimensions when you get a chance...then I'll be doing some filing!

Here are some pics of the covers with dimensions of the areas to be modified. I apologize for the attachments, one of these days I'll get it in gear and get a Flickr account.
