Picked up this xl903 on ebay. it was pretty rough cylinder and piston hashed. Found an NOS cylinder got a piston and all the bits needed to put it back together. I got as close of a match as i could find on the paint. Second picture is what the covers look like now. Waiting on a decal set from sugar creek I think i got the color and pattern on the paint correct. This is my first big Homelite paint job. my model 17 is still in original paint. What do you folks think?

That looks great! I do auto body repair for a living and have not worked up the courage to paint a big xl yet. There's a lot of tedious masking to them. Good job!

Good job! that is the truth. 2 rolls of blue tape and a lot of exacto knife trimming. I didn't try to remove all it's battle scars I want it to look good but not lose it's history.
And more pics will be coming and hopefully a video of it running and cutting like it should.

Nice looking saw, bro! Congratulations! I'm a new member, the love to HOMELITE saws brought me here! I live across the Atlantic, in Europe. I'm a collector and the last saw I adopted is exactly the same - a HOMELITE XL 903. It runs great after some repairs, but the look is just like the first picture of yours. When I saw how your 903 looks after painting I decided to do the same to mine. I used to do car paint repairs for living, so I think It wouldn't be a difficult task to me.

This is what I miss, a decall provider. And this is more important than the painting itself, I think. The saw is going to look somehow stupid if there's no decalls on it.

Jesus! The time has come! The restoration must begin now, after I received a set of decals from SCSupply. I have no excuse to delay the beginning! But still have no time to invest in this restoration, because all the people around me steal my time for their purposes...Shall I FINGER them all?
