Believe it or not, when I was a junior in high school someone painted their vehicle what looked to me like Homelite blue.It was a special mix paint that was pretty pricey back then.(1975) I I remember correctly it was either $27/gal.or $37/gal.I liked it so much that I inquired about it & had my truck painted that color. A gallon of automotive basecoat paint now could easily be in the $800-$1000 range. How times change...

I took one of my SEZ's out cutting at my neighbor's today & it cut quite well.I put about 2 1/2 tanks of fuel through it & it didn't miss a beat.We were all finished & my neighbor noticed that the saw had lost it's fuel cap.Luckily he found it,but I have no idea as to why the cap came off,it had the gasket on it,but I noticed that the little aluminum tube that belongs in the cap is missing. Is there a part # for that tube?

Apparently there WAS a part # for the aluminum tube, but they're NLA.
I pulled my little EZ apart today so I can possibly get the handle bracket area welded tomorrow.I hope it can be welded at a reasonable price,I really don't want to have to pull the engine apart if I don't have to.A poorly laid out design IMHO.
Also, when I was out cutting with the Super Mini the other day I noticed that when I put the saw back in the garage that the front handle was a bit wobbly.I looked at it the next day or so later & found that one of the screws had come out along with half of the handle.I never saw one like that before.I'll change out the entire handle & hopefully the screw will stay in with a little Loctite.

I took the little EZ to the welding shop today.I had to laugh at how little people know. The shop[ proprietor asked me if the saw was a Jonsered because the saw had red paint on it.I said no it's a Homelite. He said I thought Homelites were blue.I had to explain to him that Homelite was blue & white, but then around '73 or '74 they changed their color scheme from blue & white to red & black. He just looked at me kinda funny. He said he's fairly sure that he can weld it & I got an estimate of around $35.To me it's worth it to not have to deal with those little needle bearings all over the place. It should be ready in a couple of days.

I got a phone call from the welder earlier today - the saw is not weldable. He struck an arc to it & it wasn't weldable.I was afraid this would happen,so it's on to plan B.That's where I take the cylinder off & disconnect the connecting rod from the crank & watch half the needle bearings roll all over the place.

I looked up the part # for the drivecase for the EZ,it's A65201 & there are none to be found anywhere. This little EZ has a manual oiler only & I don't believe that I can use a drivecase from a SEZ which is part # A69807A.The SEZ's all have auto oiling in addition to the manual oiling.Maybe Joyce has some old EZ drivecases laying about.

I was rummaging through my pile 'o saws & lo & behold, another SEZ poked it's head out of the pile.Of course I had to check it out.It has spark & it fired on a prime. The piston & cylinder look good with no scoring,& it's in need of a clutch. The clutch is no problem,I must have at least 8 or 9 of them floating about.I haven't had time to work on a saw in the last 3-4 weeks because of wood cutting season.I think we've hauled in about 10 cord so far.The saws that need repairs are piling up.

Good thing you have plenty of backups Sounds like my typical scenario- all Winter stuff sits dormant and no issues then springtime comes and start working and suddenly the shop is full of stuff needing repairs. By the time I get everything up and running its winter time again lol
