I bought 2 fuel tank gaskets for the 1050 years ago. Now I can't find them. It looks like they go for about 25 bucks now. Thought I only paid 4-5 bucks way back. The one 1050 I used for milling, when I cleaned the tank and put lines and filters in it, I didn't have the gaskets yet, so I used a fuel resistant RTV. It lasted for years, but it started dripping fuel. The last time I used it, it was dripping enough, by the time I got it on the mill, there was a puddle about the size of a golf ball under it. I snatched the starter and it popped and blew a ball of fire out the exhaust and caught the puddle on fire, then the whole saw went poof. On the mill it was to heavy to grab it and run to the hose, so I ran to the garage and got my extinguisher. There was no visible damage, so I wiped it down, blew it dry, started it up and finished my milling project. I've started it a few times, but haven't used it since. I have 3 1050's and 4-5 C series. I was going to put new gaskets, lines and filters on all ot them at the same time. I could buy 8-10 saws for the price of that many gaskets. Is there a sealant that will work instead of the gaskets?
PS: On that 1050, which is the first one my Dad bought, so it has always been in the family, the tank had a thick rubber like coating, was that factory? It's possible that if it leaked he took it to the shop and the mechanic put a liquid liner in it. But, I don't remember that happening. Although, if the saw was tied up at the shop, that might be why he bought the second one. Wish he had of gotten a 2100 instead.
