Well, I decided to start my C7 project a couple weeks ago. I keep kicking myself for not taking pictures throughout the process. Once I get started, I get focused on what I'm doing and forget. So, took some pics well into the process today. Parts blasted and the detail work started so, I can prep for coating. I just couldn't wait until everything was prepped so, I powder coated a few items today. I wanted to see what the color looked like. The color of the powder coat is really not as dark red as the pictures make it look. It looks much lighter in person...must be the lighting or the camera on my phone. Anyway, I would have also had the drive case done but, I messed it up when removing the silicone plugs out of it...then, like an idiot, my OCD kicked in and I tried to "fix" it...which just made a disappointing situation much worse. Man, was I MAD. So, since I completely messed up the drive case, I have strip that and do it again.....not looking forward to that at all. I could probably leave it as is but, I would drive me nuts knowing it looks the way it does. Still have a lot of small parts to clean up..... More to come....

That powder coat sure does look nice! Are you using a hobby powder coating kit like what Eastwood offers? How did you select a paint formula?

I use the Eastwood dual voltage gun but I do not use their powders... not a very big selection. I get my powder from Prismatic Powders. I just went on their site and ordered samples of different colors. Then, compared them to what I had, to find the closest match. So far, so good.

It looks fantastic. What media did you use for blasting? I use an aluminum oxide, fine grit.

Thanks. Felt like it took forever. Most nights, I'm too tired to work on things when I got home..then mad that I didn't do "something" to move things forward. It was a lot of fun. Now, I need to clean my workshop...ugh.

Thanks everyone! The only other thing I would change (other than the top handle) is the muffler assembly. When I got the saw, it had a chrome muffler on it. If I can get the one I have looking good, I will probably swap it out. The saw was pretty rough when I got it...kind of a frankensaw.

With a little sanding and polishing, the stack can look like chrome.
