I've got an XL-902 & it had a 16 in.bar & chain on it when I bought it.I've noticed that the number 370 is on the drive links.I've tried looking this up to see what make it is & all the other info, but can't find anything on it.I bought a new 20 in.Oregon 27852 bar & chain combo, but when I try to put it on the saw it's acting like it's too short. The chain goes around the rim sprocket without a problem, but when I put the bar on the studs the chain wants to bind up on the bar sprocket.I've checked to make sure the chain is matched to the sprocket & it is.Something's definitely screwy here. It's a McCulloch chain number I believe. Oregon says to converts part number S70, I think that S70 is the cheaper, newer low profile or .325 chain, not sure

The Oregon conversion chart listed the Mac 370 chains convert to a Oregon S70 chain, not sure what a S70 is. Google says it is a 3/8" pitch though

OK,that pretty much clears up the 370 on the drivers & explains why the 16 in.chain that came on the saw works fine, but I don't understand why the new Oregon bar & chain I bought won't work.I'll have to count the drivers on the new Oregon 72 chain. Ed

I found the problem.Someone had the saw set up with an 8 pin rim.I changed out the rim to a 7 pin & the new bar & chain fit very nicely now.I don't think I'll ever have any use for that 8 pin rim. Ed

Just to add some information, McCulloch at a time used two pitches that I've not seen used with sprocket tipped bars. The two pitches were .354 and .378 . Kind of odd, I suppose it's a McCulloch thing.

I knew about thoser 2 pitches.I had to change out about 3 clutch drums that were .378 pitch & were one piece drums with the rims. They were on older Mac 2-10's & I think one was on an older 10-10. Ed
