Hello everyone, new member here. I'm Neal and I am doing a complete restoration of my Homelite Super XL 925. I have run into a bit of an issue though. I have all the parts I need to start but discovered someone poured JB weld into the gas tank to fix a hole in the case. So I purchased another one on line and that one had the bar studs replaced with some sort of heli coil kit and they also poured some kind of tar into the tank to seal the backside of the studs. The crankcase around the studs is cracked so I am looking for a Super XL 925 crankcase if anyone can help me find one I'd be really appreciative. I did locate one but the owner is 86 and forgets to send me pictures and will not get back with me so it's time to broaden the search. Peace to ya all.

You might be able to get a used one from Chainsawlady,or Leon here on this forum. If not,you might be able to gat a new one from either Bob Johnson,or Buford Parrish, but I suspect it'd be pricey. Ed

Thanks for the info. I have asked Leon, he gave me a heads up on the crank case with replaced bar studs. How can I contact the 2 you mentioned that may have new ones?

I have asked Leon, he gave me a heads up on the crank case with replaced bar studs. Is that the one from the 924 from Ebay? If so, the pics online of the studs look like they are correct; the retainers are threaded on the outside and thread down to hold the studs in place. Homelite did use a black sealer in the tank as well. If the tank came in damaged, I'd file a claim with Paypal and get a refund!

I can't return it because I cracked the case, couldn't get a screw loose and had to dremel a slot for a screwdriver because the stuck screw stripped. Luckily, I found another 925 case today.

Administrator, I wasn't implying You steered me wrong, I compared my 925 to the 924 and thought the 924 studs were a repair. Also, I had no clue of the tank sealer. Peace.

I would be ticked if I steered someone wrong...screwing up my own purchase would be bad enough, but wasting someone else's money is much worse! I am glad to hear you found a proper part!
