Thanks Mike! I did a couple of searches on Ebay & must've missed this bar completely twice.I think what might've thrown me off was the drive link count.I was thinking it was 72 instead of 70.I guess I got that mixed up with the Oregon 72 chain.I bought one of these bars from my local saw shop back in Sept.for my Pioneer 1100,but it didn't work.I knew it wouldn't go to waste,I used it on my XL-700.I called my local saw shop yesterday to see if he had another one,but the owner was having back surgery & the new prospective owner knows diddly squat. I did another search on Ebay & found what I thought to be a pretty good deal - a 20 in.Oregon 27852 bar & chain combo for $ 34.98.I bought 2 for a total of $86.76 which included tax & shipping.I don't know how I missed this yesterday. The seller is in Pa.,so I won't have to wait long.Guaranteed delivery by 12/24. Ed I hope that wasn't the one that was a .404 or .058/.063 width, there were several like that I almost bought, but when I looked them up they weren't 3/8" .050

I stopped at my local saw shop today to see if he had any more 20 in.Forester D096 mount bars,he did not.He did havve a Stens Silver Streak D096 bar though & when I found that he wanted $65 just for the bar I almost fell over.I bought the Forester bar back in Sept.for $27,granted it'd been sitting on the shelf since 2012. 65 is about average price for a new good 20" bar

I wouldn't consider a laminated bar to be a "good" bar.IMO $65 is way over-priced,should be around $40-$45.I see them on Ebay all day long for that much,or even less. The price of steel went sky high back around 2008 & it fluctuated up & down for about 3 yrs.I know this because I cleaned up the neighborhood & hauled steel during that time.My point is that prior to 2008 the price of bars was nowhere what it is now & this was caused by the price of steel being high. Now the price of steel is back to where it was prior to 2008 & the price of bars has not dropped accordingly.Nothing ever goes back to where it was price-wise after a "crisis" is over. Its why I have always tried to buy in bulk, I get a better price and I know I'll need it when they raise the prices. I stocked up on bars this past year and saved a ton of money, I bought 4 new and NOS 24" Oregon power match bars and paid 40 dollars each.

That was an awesome deal for 24 in.bars.I've been buying Archer 24 in.B&C combos for $60 w/free shipping.I've found the Archer brand to be very good. Ed

The last 24" Oregon bars (advertised as Power Match, but stamped Power Cut) bars I've bought from Amazon and eBay haven't impressed me that much, that why I tend to favor the NOS Oregon bars. They are many times over in the steel quality, the sprocket, and overall milling. The new Oregon bars have a high ridge in the stud slot that really needs to be smoothed down, the replaceable sprocket has been cheapened, and more than anything else it really chaps my butt when 99 percent of the sellers show a picture of an older Power Match bar that they don't make anymore and send you the cheaper Power Cut bar. I also don't like it that the new D196 bars have the universal tension holes, so I buy the Husky D009 brs and fille them square
