I saw this VI-955 for 150 dollars on Facebook market place and made a deal for the guy to pay half the shipping. I have two VI-123's and a Terry made VI-130. My Super Mini SL is a VI saw as well. There's a few other VI saws I'd like, but they don't come up often. I like the fact that Homelite made the 955 to retard compression without a decomp valve. Now I can save my three NOS 900 series cylinders for other saws.

I was looking for a 925XL for my collection and instead found a nice 955VI that was a shelf queen. It was in Boise, but I had a local friend drive over and pick it up for me, and several months later another friend driving through Boise on his way to Portland picked it up for me. When you're collecting chainsaws, one can never have too many friends.

I called my cousin a couple of days ago to see what happened to his dad's saws.My uncle passed away in 1991 or 1992.I thought that maybe he or his older brother had them squirreled away somewhere, but that wasn't the case.I remember my uncle had at least one Homelite,I can't remember for the life of me what model it was.Anyway, come to find out my aunt just scrapped the saws & was so proud of the $6 or $8 she got from the scrapyard.I guess my aunt was starting to get dementia & eventually had a couple of strokes & passed away in early 2016.That was just before I got into chainsaws like I am now. When my cousin told me what his mom did with the saws I was mortified.I'm sure it wouldn't have taken much to get them going again, maybe a new fuel line, clean the points,& rebuild the carb.
