Can i ask in this same thread if there should be anything in this hole on the fuel tank? The hole in the fuel tank is for a "Duck Bill Valve", Homelite: 69451. Chain oil tank also has this valve on the end of the hose inside the tank. Stens : 610-345 , will be the same as the Homelite part.

Thx 5terrysupersaws but where would that tube go to? Where should i connect it? The duckbill vavle is used to let air in the tank as the fuel is pulled out by the fuel line. Nothing is connected to it.

Nothing is connected to it. As often happens I think I am going to be able to actually answer a question and just to be 100% sure I'm right check a manual or some such reference and when I come back someone beats me by a minute or two! Yes that is the duck-bill valve that pokes through from the outside. Be careful when you open the oil tank to see if there is one on the end of the hose that does poke into the oil tank in about the same location. If it's not there dump out the oil tank and see if it is down in the bottom. The valves should be easy to find but the little adapter sleeve between the hose and duck-bill in oil tank can be a hard item to find!

Thx again. I have the oil tank like that. But for the fuel tank, does that tube just hang in loose air? Just dont see where it would connect.

Yes, the "tube"(duckbill valve) just goes into the hole of the fuel tank, nothing connects to it. See thread below; third picture houseofhomelite.proboards.com/thread/6883/super-2s

Have you removed the oil fill cap and checked to see if the duck-bill is in there?
I did not realize there was a duck-bill in there on my Super2 and I had it since new in early 1970's.
Had not used the saw much the last couple years and when I decided to start using noticed that it ran but smoked like crazy. Not knowing better thought that there was a major problem from sitting too long.
Tore saw all apart to see if I could salvage it and after not finding anything obvious started checking around and found this forum and learned about the Duck-bill in oil tank. New oil and gas lines a carb kit and some other small parts have a hard working saw again.
Might get some ambition up tomorrow and attack some dead trees to see if they have any good wood for the wood stove.
