Sorry to hear what happened Leon. You're absolutely right - it sucks! I hope Greg's possibility of a different cylinder works out,if not PM me,I might be able to help out. Ed

Beautiful paint on the 500. Hearing it siezing up was something I never want to hear on one of mine. Hopefully parts can be found soon. I know I will be keeping an eye out.

Quite well...both have been sourced NOS! One of our friends here was able to help quite a bit and I am quite grateful!

Excellent! Glad to hear that Leon. There's nothing that irritates me more than not being able to find a part or two for an old vintage saw.The thing is I know that there are parts out there somewhere just sitting on a shelf collecting dust & the owner doesn't know what he has.Or if he does know what he has he wants an arm & a leg for it.(Ebay sellers)

She's baaaaaaackkkkk!!!! You'll want to go to the end of the video for the test run; the other 85 minutes are disassembly and reassembly instructions for this style of saw.

You make that look so easy, every piston /cylinder change I ever did took a lot longer than you just did with that saw.

Nice job Leon! I've got a lead on a couple of XL-500's at a reasonable price. One is a little more than I'd like to spend, the other one is missing the drivecase cover.I've looked all over the paerts diagram to see what the part # is,but I can't find the drivecase cover even listed. Ed

Thanks guys!
Ed the drivecase cover is the same as the early Super XL & Xl-12 with the 5/16 studs. The part is 58750-*...only early revisions up through -2 or -3 are going to have the 5/16 holes.
