Pickup this one up from the Chinsawlady. Didn't take much to get it running. These use a 4 stroke engine. After some research, found out they are built by Yamaha and are a exact copy of the Yamaha EF600 generator, except for the outer case, Homelite's are red, Yamaha's are blue. Plenty of parts are still available, through Yamaha sources. When I first started mine, it was running at about 150 volts and 70Hz. More research determined that a small hole in the back of the case, a philips screw is turned to adjust the governor, which adjusts the voltage/HZ. I set it as close to 60Hz as possible, which was about 123 volts. Video of mine running Homelite Lightnin Bug Running

Hi Guys,
i live in Berlin Germany and bought an used Yamaha EF600 same as Homelight you writing about.
Its an cool oldfashioned device, but it didnt run properly.
I put on it new air filter, new fuel pump diaphragma, new oil, new spark plug and I cleaned the fuel system tank and carburator.
But the Speed is to low.
It starts fine and runs but the Engine is to low, the green lamp only glow.
What can I do?
The compression is round about 5bar. Do I have to overhaule the engine, valves and piston rings.
I would be happy to get any hints and advice. Is there an repair manual available in pdf in the net?
Thanx a lot, Mo

Thanx for the fast response.
Jep, I adjusted the governor.
The governor control the trottleflap on the carburator.
So I manupulate the trottleflap also by hand, but the rpm didnt increase enough as needed.
The carburator is absolutly clean and there is also enough fuel in the carburator.
One thing i notice is, the color of the Sparkplug is black.
Is there any other thing, which can influence the max RPM ?
Greetings From Berlin

No, choke is only open at start, Afterwards its closed, on the carburator is a second choke flap which is open during cold start, then its closed.
The choke mechanism works well. Open and closing manualy didnt bring the Engine to needed Max RPM.
