Ed,one thing I have learned about 330's is they don't pump heavy chain oil very well. For me they seem to work best with 30wt engine oil and when its cold thin that with kerosene or go to 20wt. Might help trying that in yours. Charles.

Thanks Charles! I was given the same advice by a guy I buy my Mac parts from.He told me to use 5/15 snowblower engine oil.I mixed the bar oil with kerosene to about a 50/50 mix & it still won't pump oil.I always cut my bar oil with kerosene even on saws with gear oil pumps. The bar oil is just too dang heavy. I tore down both 330's today & inspected the carb plate & the impulse & oil lines. The impulse lines on both saws going to the oil pump were questionable & one oil line going to the bar pad was questionable as well. On the "parts" saw there was oil all over the place. When I got the saw last month there was oil all over as well.I'm hoping that by replacing the lines it'll solve the no oil issue.I hope to put them back together tomorrow. Things didn't quite go as planned today as I'd wanted. With a freeze coming in tonight I had to harvest the last of the garden veggies & can up the last of my tomatoes. After taking care of that I did manage to get one of the 330's almost entirely back together again.I just need to put the bar & chain on & fuel it up & see if the saw will oil. I had a pesky oil leak on my 330 several years ago. It was making the same mess in the floor that you mentioned. Mine was the bottom of the oil tank. The bottom of the tank is just a piece of sheet metal, aluminum I assume, that appears to be epoxied to the upper part of the tank, which is an integral cast part of the upper housing. I found the leak in the seam, cleaned off the paint and patched it with JB Weld. It still leaked. I pulled it apart and found it leaking, again in the seam, next to my patch so I applied more JB Weld. It still leaked. So I pulled it apart again and cleaned the seam all the way around and covered it all with JB Weld. That's why I called it pesky.
I wish I had some words of wisdom for you on your oiler issue. I've never had much trouble with them but they are slow to prime. When I'd had an oiler off, I usually just went out and started cutting and let the oiler catch up whenever the spirit moved it.

Rather than use JB Weld,I'd think that Red Kote would be the way to go,or buy another tank handle. Ed

I've never used Red Kote, you may be right. I'm assuming that's the fuel tank sealer that you just pour into a clean tank and roll it around? I have a fuel tank that I need to seal somehow when I get some time to play with it.

Yep,that's the stuff.A qt.of Red Kote can be expensice at $35/qt.,but you can seal many tanks with that qt. Ed

I have never seen 2 more uncooperative saws than these 2 330's.I tried priming the "parts" 330 to no avail,so I moved on to the "original" 330 that I bought back in July.I got that saw put back together agai n for about the 5th tiome. The parch on the fuel tank worked well. The saw ran like crap, probably because it has a Zama carb on it.That saw wouldn't oil; either even after priming the pump.I noticed a big puddle of bar oil underneath & to the rear of the saw. This leads me to believe that there's an oil leak in the line that goes from the pump under the carb plate. If I could just get one of these saws to run & oil properly I'd be happy. It's almost time to take them out back & use them for target practice. I go in for back surgery on next Tues.& I don't have time to be messing with saws that are not prodfuctive. Ed
Im going to guess you wish they were still Elusive.

Dang Ed, I seldom look at saws this small, so I didn't even know you had been looking for one. A couple years ago my cousin was at an auction. The auctioneer knows him and knows he used to be in the tree business. He was trying to sell a C5 and a 330, he started asking $100 for the pair with no offers. He got all the way down to $5 with no bids. He said common guys, 5 bucks for these two nice pro saws. No bids. He said Damn, "sold to Tommy" for $1. So, Tommy brought them home and gave them to me. A friend of mine had bought a mill and was looking for a saw, so I gave him the C5, being a runner. He wanted to give me something for it, but I said he could have it for what I had in it, zip. He kept bugging me so I gave him the 330 and told him he could rebuild it for me. Told him one problem was the plastic manifold. It crumbled up in pieces when he took it out. Fast forward to today. He has it all back together and was having trouble getting the air cleaner cover back on. That's the only 330 I've ever seen. Is there something tricky about getting the cover back on. He said he also needs a gasket for the air cleaner cover, are they available?
