I just picked up a saw for $25 and it was as usual filthy. It has a Tillotson 141B carb w/ a splash back cover that appears to be new to the saw,it's red with a green air filter cover and a green starter recoil and the handle has a black plastic grip. I posted my query on AS(only because I still can't post pictures here)and was told it was an XP-1000 possibly but the little bit of the top decal I can see tells me it's a C-Series just not sure. I sent Leon the pictures so maybe he can post them.
Thanks, Al D.

I looked at the picture on the arborist site. I am 99 percent sure it's a C-91. The C-71 would have been all red (no green). One way to tell for sure if it's a C-91 is if it has an external idle adjustment screw. This screw is very small and located just to the left of the oiler button. As far as I know the C-91 is the only C series saw to have this feature. I'm guessing that the black gripped handle is not original as a C-91 would have probably had a green grip.

If your accessing the forum via a mobile device, most use an app called Taptalk that lets you post the pictures through the app. If you are going through a computer, a hosting site like Flickr makes it very easy. You can get a free account on Flickr and then post the Flickr link here. It's very easy and there is a tutorial on the forum. houseofhomelite.proboards.com/thread/6155/adding-pictures

I downloaded tapatalk and I'm unable to find HoH, just AS. Is there a link or group I need to use?

Might find it under proboards.com, then House of Homelite. Not sure, I don't use taptalk.
Paging Dan..... or is it Greg?

Now I'm second guessing whether that is a C-91. I'm looking at the pictures on my phone so the image is small but looks like it says power master on the clutch cover. All the C-91s that I've seen have a green clutch cover that says direct drive. Power master suggests that it would be from the XP series, probably a XP -1000. I think that the XP might have a slightly larger fuel tank than the C series (experts correct me if I'm wrong). Either way it's a cool saw! If you have another saw from the C series, compare the tanks. Just curious

I've been assured by Leon that it is a C-91, the sprocket cover is a feature available for the saw. If you look at the logo on the top it's the inverted chevron, and that's the reason I had my doubts in the first place along with the HL-141B Tillotson carb.

If you look at the decals the 91 goes straight up while the XP is tapered. I'm not an expert by any means.

Ok one last observation to throw a wrench in the works! Joe has made these decals as close as possible to the originals so if you go by that the upward angle of the saws decal vs SCS's the angle is steeper on the XP just like my saw's decal🤔, something to think about! OR, I could just pull the jug but this is more fun.

This is more fun! Decoding is awesome. I'm glad you posted this as the C series saws are some of my favorite.

My XP-1000 says Woodmaster on the drive case cover. This would lead me to believe that it's not a XP-1000,but rather the next model up the ladder which would be an XP-1020 possibly? It doesn't really matter that much as all the saws in the XP series were 100cc.'s.
Edit:I've been corrected. The saw is in fact a C-91.Disregard this post.

All this talk of C series saws got my juices flowing so down to the basement I went and tore down this C-7 I got for free from a fella on AS just had to pay for the ride. The usual process tear down pressure wash carb rebuild and fuel lines. Cleaned the points and reset and BAM! another runner... I will need a new high tension lead because the original was bubblegum and causing the saw to arch out.

Awesome! I could talk all night about the C series. The only direct drive C that I don't have is the C-71. That one illudes me still. As for the gear drives, they a ghost saws here in Iowa. Never seen one.

The C series is what got me started on this hobby. I restored my dad's old C7 he bought new in 1964. They are my favorite saw to work on & cut with. I currently have a C5 C51 C7 C71 and a C9

Bronze Filter is part# 69454 ... Duckbill #69451 Original C-7 fuel cap #A-58368-A , uses 56865 vent valve. C-91 fuel cap #A-64140-A , uses Duckbill 63718 (69451) and aluminum tube to retain it in the cap. Post a pic of the underside of the C-91's fuel cap to verify that it has it's original cap.
