Scored a 100cc Homelite XP1100 gear drive with a 48" bar and a solid 1/2" chain saw locally for $35 I figured at the price I couldn't go wrong as I could always use it as a parts saw for my 1130G. The starter cord wouldn't retract because the cord wasn't installed properly. That has been fixed. Checked the spark plug and it had a solid blue discharge. Shot some WD-40 into the spark plug hole and turned the engine over several times, then did a compression check. It measured 120 psi, not great but not horrible either. The wretched gas in the tank needs to be cleaned out and while I'm at it I'll replace the fuel lines. Hopefully a carb kit won't be too difficult to locate. Already found a source for a replacement carb cover and hopefully the air filter will be as easy to find. And yes... The chain is on backwards.

Nice find. The carb looks like a Tilly HL series, new OEM kits are readily available anywhere. Good luck. Steve

Damn that's a nice saw. Don't see them very often. $35 bucks! That's a "you suck" kinda deal for sure.

The saw is up and running as of today. I only had to clean out the fuel tank and put in fresh fuel, plus a little down the car throat to get it running. After that, it just needs a little choke and a pull to start up. Time to shopping for the missing parts and possibly a new muffler assembly.

Had an opportunity to put the XP1100 to work yesterday cutting sequoia donuts for use as table tops. The wide bar was nice for keeping the cut straight, but finding a ¼” un-tapered file locally to sharpen the ½” inch chain was a bit of a challenge. The saw ran great and was up to the task, but I could have done a better job sharpening the chain had I had more time. The pile of chips it generated on the cuts was impressive and I have to saw that chip flow out of the saw was much better than my 660. I do think my 1130G with a 404 chain would out cut the XP1100 on similar wood.

Actually curious what the difference between a xp 1100 and 1130 would be. Other then gear ratio. What would make one saw pull better then he other ?

My 1130G has a 404 bar and a 8 pin drive, so the chain speed is faster.

I happened to stumble upon an XP1100. My question is, does anyone know where I could find an ignition coil.
