Just wanted to share my experience and rant a bit.
I've been wanting to get a fuel caddy for a couple years now, to have a bit more capacity than a 5 gal can but still something easy enough to transport. Trouble is they've always been cost prohibitive. About 10 days ago I got an e-mail from Northern Tool and they had one on sale for $119.99. I looked it over and decided it was a pretty good deal. Usually when buying stuff offline I like to check prices to make sure I'm getting a good deal. As luck would have it I found the same product on the pep boys ebay store for $79.99. If I would have known then what I do now, I would probably have just bought the one from Northern Tool.
I placed the order on 5/1. Got a confirmation from ebay and pep boys shortly after. Was all radio silence until I sent a message on ebay Monday 5/6. No response. On Wednesday 5/8 I called the customer service and the gentleman I spoke with, while very nice, could only tell me that "it hadn't shipped yet" and "it should ship within the next couple days". I expressed my frustration to him but accepted the response.
At this time I also noticed the ebay listing had been lowered to $73.99. I wrote a strongly worded message via e-bay stating I feel they should refund me the difference, and maybe more, since I had been waiting over a week and the product hadn't even shipped yet. Frustratingly, they refunded my $6 the next morning but still had no response about shipping.
So today I call again and get the same "it hadn't shipped yet" and "it should ship within the next couple days" answer. I asked to be escalated to a supervisor but everybody had left for the day (understandable as they are based on the east coast and it was after 4 pacific time when I called). The representative said he will put a note in for me to get a call back within 24 hours, so I am interested to see what they have to say.
Needless to say I will be leaving negative feedback. If I don't hear back within 24 hours I will also be cancelling the order and filing a complaint with ebay.
Okay, Rant over.
