Hello, i have an old Homelite XL or XL-2 chainsaw( i don't know exactly, but i measured the cylinder bore, and it's 33,3 mm). I can start it, but if i pull the gas, the engine stops. I tought something wrong with the carburetor, so i repaired it with a new kit, and adjusted screws to the factory settings, but the problem is still the same. I checked the spark plug, it's okay, but the sparks looked a bit small to me compare to my car, but others said it's good enough. Now i want to replace the crankshaft sealing, because i tought it might be worn out, but it looked good for me(i didn't find the dimensions of the seal ring on the internet anyway, so if someone knows it please tell me, because i didn't find my caliper either). I think it's still could be the carburetor, but i checked it many times, and i didn't find anything wrong. Anyone had a problem like this before? Attachments:

My disclaimer; I'm by no means a pro, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express🤣
I guess my first question would be "did you check for compression"? I'm not sure if your model has points or not but I always tear those little saws down completely and sand the points and flywheel smooth again also clean all the contacts to the coil. The walbro carb has a circuit plate that the lever doesn't seem to fit properly(sometimes)on the shaft so it moves too much.
I've put a carb in my ultrasonic cleaner and it still had crap in it. I do believe that the HDC carbs should be 1 turn out from a gentle seat to start. Make sure the gaskets are installed correctly, the metering diaphragm needs to be on top of the gasket. I get saws all the time where people put that one in wrong and floods the carb.

I would only replace seals if I were sure they were bad, by pressure/vacuum testing the crankcase. Most likely the carburetor is still the problem.

Ah, that may limit your options. If you can find it or a cross reference, CR/SKF: 4913 seals can be used. The dimensions are; shaft- 12.7 mm -- .500" bore- 19.02 mm -- .749" width- 3.8 mm -- .125"
