Hi all, First post on HoH. Let me know if this post is not in the correct location. Trying to get the carb out of a 150, but can't see how to disengage it from the choke lever linkage. I'm assuming it will just rotate off of the red throttle linkage once it's free from the choke linkage. Any advice on how to accomplish this? 150 carburetor by J Grieser, on Flickr It's shown "upside down" here... that's how it was sitting on the bench when I took the photo. I can post a better photo if needed. Also, I tried to start a new thread but couldn't figure it out. The only instructions I found said to use the "reply" button. Is there a better (more appropriate) way? John

To start a new thread go to the correct saw model,in this case 150.Click on the 150 & it'll take you to the most recent posts for that model. In the upper right part of the screen you'll see where it says"Create Thread",click on that & it'll bring up a new thread to be created by you. You'll have to write in what you want your title to read. Then go down just below that & write the body of your message.Scroll down to the bottom on the right & click post,or create thread, not sure which one.You can attach photos at the end if you wish. Removal of carburetor from page 31 of the Homelite 150 Service Manual :
Pull out the air deflector and flanged bushings holding the intake manifold gasket and carburetor in place; After disconnecting the fuel line at the carburetor, Pull down and angle the carburetor to unhook it from the throttle rod; As this is done the choke rod will come free of the carburetor also. If the choke rod and brass detent clip fall off the choke button, they may be put back during carb. installation.
Welcome to House of Homelite .. Good luck with it !

Thanks for the input. I found the 150 service manual. Thanks for the heads up on that.
Unfortunately, I still cannot get the carb out. It's loose and moving around freely, but continues to get hung up on the combination of linkages (throttle and choke). I see that the instructions in the service manual refer to the Walbro HDC carb... mine is the Tillotson HK. Would that make a difference? Also, not sure how careful I need to be here as I really don't want to mess something up by being too heavy-handed.
Thanks for your help, John

Never worked on a 150 so may not be much help. I think the linkages are the same regardless of the manufacturer of carb, at least that's the case with other saws.
Have you backed the mixture screws clear out? May help you be able to manipulate the carb to get the linkage unhooked. You want to be careful with the linkage but if it gets bent no big deal- should be able to be straightened out easy enough.
