The decompression lever on my super 2100 just flops around like something is broke inside. The saw cranks over fairly like is is decompressed and starts right up. It runs like a top and seems to have great torque. I'm confused as to what is going on. If it's stuck in decompression mode, it shouldn't run very well should it? I haven't tore into it yet to see what the lever is doing or not doing. Any thoughts?

Are the clamps present that hold the rod? There is also a spring on the decompression valve, check to see if it’s there. When all correct parts are present, the rod clamps must be adjusted to hold valve closed when rod is in run position, hence the reason why the clamps are slotted.

Also my 2100 will start and run well on decompression...there is a huge difference once switched off but it will run well either way..

I looked into it further this evening. I found that the lever had somehow come out of the hole in the decompression valve. After getting that back in and doing some adjusting and creative bending on the clamp, it seems to work great. It was definitely decompressed before tinkering with it. Thanks for the pointers. It also has an over oiling problem but I will create a new thread to address this issue.

If the lever is allowed to go past the start position that can happen. When adjusted properly, lever should never be out of clamps.
