Picked up a C7 this weekend. Got her running fine but she's ugly and I'm wanting to pretty her up. Didn't know what color red that matches it. Is there any rattle can paint that matches the HL red.

I like the Duplicolor Chrysler Red Engine enamel DE1632. This is my C-7 repainted using that and a nice gloss clearcoat: Homelite C-7 (b) by Leon Crouch, on Flickr

Be sure and get the Spray Max 368 0061 2k clear. Amazing shine and dries like concrete. You won't be disappointed. Leon and I have used it with great results.

I buy my SprayMax through a seller on Ebay called tropicenterprises. TJ is right, it's amazing stuff and it makes a fresh paint job look 10 times better. The best part is you can still cut with the saw when you get done!

Never heard of it Ebay or the other mentioned places. It is fairly spendy per can but worth it. I hammer on the clear, so I grab 2 cans per project. I had a paint scan done on my snap on red tool box. It cross matched a Chrysler interior color SR1. It needs to be clear coated because the interior finish is dull. This color is extremely close to original.

Chainsaws are very hard to scan because they usually don't have a large enough flat surface for the camera to take a reading. The reason I scanned the toolbox is because snap on red is the closest thing I've found to Homelite red. I've sprayed two saws (c-7 and c-9) with the red formula from the scan and I think it's right on the money. Automotive paint scanners cannot always give an exact match, but they will usually get very close.
