i have a 330 that seems to rev on its own, the throtle mecanism seems intact and operates the butterfly in the carb by visual inspection, but once started it revs up and down real mad, i dont think this saw has a governor ? or does it ? rpm seems totaly uncontrolable.
thanks for any inputs.

Rubber intake boot is more than likely cracked causing the engine to race. Any continental use like this will ruin the engine due to the air leak. The boot is an inexpensive part to replace better than new cylinder and piston.

If boot looks good , look at the reeds below the boot.

There's also an impulse line in there too that can go bad. Ed

I dont imagine it would run at all if the impulse line was bad

If there was a small crack in it,it'd be able to suck air & cause the engine to rev hi & lo,almost like a boot problem, but a little different.
The saw should have two lines I believe,if it's anything like the 360.One line is for the fuel, that should be quite obvious. The other line is the impulse line that runs off the crankcase,if I'm not mistaken. If I'm wrong about this, someone please correct me. Ed
