I have a homelite 330 that I have pulled the threads out of the carburetor bolt holes on the carburetor mount plate and was wondering if anyone knew of any solutions besides buying a used plate because I'm affraid if I bought a used one it would happen again. And I haven't been able to find one that is NOS.

I'm not sure what you mean by mounting "plate"... but if the bolt hole depth is more than 3x the diameter of the bolt- I have successfully used this on stripped threads- even on areas of motors where the heat doesn't exceed 300 degrees. It will handle the minimal torque of a carburetor mount. www.fixmyhog.com/video/loctite-stripped-thread-repair-tip-005180/

This is the thread that pulled out. I ended up having two mount plates because I have a parts saw for it and each time you go to start to snug it down the threads just break and pull out. The threads in both plates also broke in the same hole each time but I never had a problem with the threads pulling out in the other hole, on both plates.

And I haven't been able to find one that is NOS. A Heli-Coil thread repair kit (10-32) will repair this and prevent future failure, it's a size that's used on many other saws so well worth the investment.

Thanks for the information. I might try doing it.

My go-to would be a Heli-Coil, as long as there were at least 4 threads in the part. There are kits for most sizes in my toolbox from #6 to 14mm spark plug. I have never used the Loctite solution but I expect to look into it now that I know about it.

I may try the Heli-Coil or try and find a new plate.
