I have an old c52 that has a 7 digit serial number and was wondering how to read it.

Hey HomeliteMan, Unlike the 8 and 9 digit serial numbers which included the date of manufacture and unit number for the day; the 7 digit numbers weren't coded the same. However, Chainsawlady has some sales records from way back in the day, these records can be used to approximate the DOM based on the serial number. If you post the serial number I'm sure someone will chime in to give you the date. Cheers. Steve

I sure hope some old documents from homelite, perhaps an old employee has kept, will show up and enlighten as to how older serial numbers can be used to determine the age or build date of saw. Dan

Welcome to the House of Homelite.

Built around 1962, can't tell what model from a serial number alone. Possibly a ZIP based on similar SN's.
