Does anyone know if there was a replacement carb made for the Tillotson HL carb?I have a C-71 that I got 6 mo.ago & I still haven't rebuilt the carb on it yet because it intimidates me.If there were a Walbro SDC that could be put on in the HL's place I'd feel much better. Ed

They didn't offer an SDC for the C-series. There was one available for a few years for the final 1050's and 1130's, but it was a kit that changed out the intake manifold, throttle linkage, choke, etc... Pretty hard to find now and the carb jets would be sized for a saw 20cc bigger than the C-71. The HL's aren't as bad as they look. But just like was mentioned in your thread about the SDC on your XL-400, you really need a pressure tester to do one right. I'd honestly hold off tackling this carb until you can get one. I've run across multiple HL's that had a warped fuel plate that would leak under pressure. They are also known for a leaking needle/seat on the fuel inlet.

Thanks for the info guys! I think that I might've gotten the C-71 mixed up with the Mac 2-10 where they made an SDC change out kit to replace the"bullfrog" carb.I could've sworn that Homelite did make a similar kit for the C-71,but as you said Leon the SDC kit was made for the bigger saws (1050 & 1130).Just too many saws to keep track of all the changes. Rowdy, you gave me the link above for the aftermarket carb on Amazon. The carb there on Amazon replaces the HL-324A & the HL-244A.The model that was used on the C-71 was an HL-141B,I don't think it'd swap out.
