After some more cleaning and now with a nice new used muffler and a freshly serviced carb. Thx to Leon for helping with all the right parts.

Well, the oiler works!
The fuel line could be cracked and sucking air. That can be hard to find. Any doubt, change the tube, what you have should work for a while. At least clean the filter before you reuse it, if you don't have a new one.

Obviously not a very good fuel line to have in yr saw. Learned some new things today. Always change the fuel line on older saws. Low cost, easy fix and prevents a lot of trouble.

Runs quite well now, but have not been able to fully adjust mixtures for hi and low. Saturday i have time for that. But I do need to have the little wire in the onoff switch or it will stop all the time. But hey she runs....and with time comes the solution.
Now the next is the little red xl i have to look at. Will make a separate thread with pics of progress.
And after that the super xl12, and then the zip, and then the xl800. Isnt it nice to have plans ready (until they are ruined by the general at home).

A bit of advice - try tuning the saw when it's hot, after been in the cut for a few min.Trying to tune a saw that has been freshly started will not give proper results. Some saws are real touchy too.
