I think your cylinder may be from a Poulan 400, 361, or a similar clone of the Super XL. Look at these Poulan cylinders on eBay, they look very similar to yours: Poulan 361 cylinder Poulan 400I think you may have solved this mystery.

I second the Poulan cylinder possibility or could be Remington or Lombard, all had similar make in parts. The Poulan uses the same flywheel and ignitions, they interchange with no problem. I had both a 361and a 400.

I have been looking at some more Homelite clone cylinders, and I think that this cylinder is more similar to a Remington than a Poulan. I don't think it is a Lombard or Pioneer either, because the Lombard cylinders have different cooling fins, and the Pioneer cylinders have a smaller exhaust port. The Remington cylinders I found on eBay have a thin mounting flange, and Remington puts the casting numbers on the exhaust side of the flange. They have two muffler holes that look countersunk. Also, the Remington cylinders have the full cooling fins on the flywheel side of the cylinder and the fin at the top of the cylinder is 3/4 of a crescent, like in your Flickr pictures. Here are the two Remington cylinders I found on eBay: PL-4 cylinder SL-4AS cylinder
Here is a Pioneer and Lombard cylinder: 1200A cylinder Comango cylinder

Here are some pics. I wondered if different Super XL's had different cylinders. I believe there was a thread recently that I read that the difference in part numbers for the SXLAO cylinders was the updated part number included a gasket where the old part number did not. I believe this was changed due to people changing the cylinder and not the gasket. www.flickr.com/photos/138659658@N05/shares/bs2y03Cylinder with casting number 70022 is definitely a SXL cylinder.

Wow Never new there was different jug heads. I've mixed and matched so many over the years with SXLs. I've rebuilt a poulan 1200a 58ccs. And it was like a spitting image of a homelite SXL engine.
