I have a late 50s homelite 35a115-1 that used to run fantastic but it’s not putting out power and it doesn’t seem to have fuses or circuit breakers anywhere. this is my fault because I tried to power a motor that had high internal resistance and I foolishly thought I could “blip” it since doing that has let me use a 15 amp(1875 watt) skil saw on the little 800 watt harbor freight generator. I do have the original manual and parts manual and I can’t seem to find anything since I’m no expert. I have been recommended to replace the Selenium rectifiers with silicon ones but I don’t know what kind I need or where to get them either. Now the second problem is that the engine would flood when it was off and when it was running it would hunt in wide arcs then die. Today I took the carb off and found that the needle sticks or closes up with the smallest amount of travel of the float And I’m very nervous to take out the needle so I’m not sure on what to do with that. Here is the manual and parts manual drive.google.com/open?id=1-HHNjykVo7WcF_TxPq7EdGZMDkKVP51Hdrive.google.com/open?id=1-Nb5nE1sCfKJSgAtSQ6MjwRYHFHnW86t

Welcome to the House of Homelite!
I am not familiar with that model, the rectifiers in the service manual, 3rd edition, seem pretty normal.
Sawnami has one of those and may be able to answer your questions better than me.
If the float/needle is sticking in your carb, you will have to take it apart to find the cause. The float might be bent, the hinge pin stuck, or there may be crud in the needle/seat. Gotta take it apart to see what is hanging up. If the engine was hunting the mixture is likely way off due to dirt, stuck float, or screw adjustment wrong. The carb is pretty simple, I think it is the same Tillotson that is used on my 9TP3-1A pump, similar vintage.

Do you have a parts list for your generator?

I haven't had occasion to have to do any troubleshooting/diagnosis on generators. Have you checked across the receptacle terminals to see if you have no output at all or a voltage lower than spec?

Today I took the carb apart and soaked the entire thing in chem dip but I need to put it back together. Mine uses a tilloston MT53A carb but The maunal doesn't mention it.
