I'm going through my new to me 1130G and without an owners manual handy, I need to know what the proper gear oil level is. Going to let it get good and warm in the sun tomorrow and drain it and refill in with 75W90 synthetic. I see a brass drain plug on the side of the gear box housing, but I'm not sure if that's the proper level or the drain plug.

Congrats on that mighty fine Super 1130G !...........I'd almost give up a *** for that one. The Homelite Chainsaw Service Shop Manual 5th Edition.. covers that model beginning on page B-14. Page B-19 ..Fig.HL64.. shows an exploded view of the gear drive assembly, the plug on the side is the bar oil fill plug. The plug on top is the gear drive oil fill plug. The manual states: "With saw setting on level surface, oil level should be level with filler opening. Drain and flush gear case with kerosene after 100 hours of use.Refill with Homelite 55291-C gear oil." Good luck with it !

Mission accomplished. To those needing to so the same task, draining the gearbox though the fill hole works much better using the level plug port. The carb kit has been ordered and well as a new roller tip. I discovered that the bar was like a hard nose, as the sprocket was completely gone. Found a new Carlton .404 tip for $10 shipped. Score! If this saw would get use other than the local GTG gathering, I would have ordered two at that price.

Now you just have to keep a eye out for a muffler shield. They are very hard to come by, but they do pop up every once in a while.
