Almost 10 years as a eBay seller, but I've had it. An eBay store named BapnSmoke was opened in my name on 7/11/2018 at 10:43pm I received an email from eBay saying so. I did not click on any links in the email, but rather logged into my account and it confirmed the store was opened. 13 minutes after receiving the email from eBay thanking me for opening my new eBay store eBay sent another email saying my store BapnSmoke was closed. I changed my password between the time the store was opened and the time the store was closed. I don't think I was hacked, I think it was an eBay glitch. I followed up with eBay the following day since the store name still showed up on my eBay account and listed my eBay store as BapnSmoke. eBay promised to remove the name BapnSmoke on 7/12/2018. That never happened and will not happen until July 31st. eBay lied to me over and over, they promised to remove the BapNsmoke name, a lie, they told me no one but me could see it, another lie, and 7 days later the BapnSmoke name is still associated with my account, name and brand. I called them back tonight and Ebay said it would remain there until the end of the month, they couldn't remove it. I found I could edit the name of the store and changed it to DO NOT SHOP EBAY (my first choice was much more "colorful"). I am working on creating my own website and store and will be leaving eBay due to their complete lack of morals and ethics. They continually lie to me about everything, they mispronounce my name even after I repeatedly correct them, and they tell customers they are the ones giving the eBay guarantee, they are NOT. I stand behind my sales with a money back guarantee, NOT eBay. In fact I even offer to pay for return shipping on ANY item purchased on my store for ANY reason. There is no eBay guarantee the members pay for and guarantee eBay sales. My word and my name are not going to be associated with a company like eBay that has zero respect for a persons word. I know those words mean very little to most people but as a human being those words are my bond and who I am, I have nothing else in the world that means more than that.

What really bothers me is eBay's complicity with fraudulent and counterfeit sellers. They know many of the sellers are seller counterfeit items and they don't care because they are making money

I totally agree, so much of it is coming from China and is straight knock off patend infringement, they should bet the sellers better.

Leon did the same thing, you may be happier with your own store. I’ve only sold one item on eBay ever, so I really don’t know all the stuff sellers go through.

The thing is that eBay goes on and on about their eBay guarantee, but it's the members who stand behind that guarantee, NOT eBay. For the amount they charge they could at least compensate for fraudulent buyers and sellers, but they wont, because every illicit buy or sell is money in their pockets. eBay is a criminal organization.

What I’ve run into lately on eBay is sellers will post in their ad “I will be listing more saws like and similar to this one just keep an eye out” but then once that saw is gone 6 months later...nothing. I guess it’s an advertising thing to get someone to follow you but kinda puts a bad taste in your mouth once you feel like the seller lied.

Yeah, I don't regret opening my own website. Just go into it knowing that you must use something like Google Ads to help drive traffic. The exposure that Ebay has is immense and it cannot be duplicated. It took about 3 years for my sales to stabilize to about 75% of what they were on Ebay and I'm happy with that. I keep more of each sale and I don't have to conform my business to oddball arbitrary selling standards. Oologahan if you decide to take the leap with your own site, I'll be glad to help any way I can.

Thanks Leon, I looked into the cost and the setup with the server your using and others, but my real issue is whether or not I want to continue selling old mower parts at all. Next year it looks like I might be planting 10 acres of Industrial Hemp and that will probably eat up much of my time

I live in Oklahoma, out of nearly 300 eBay sales in a few years ONLY one sale went to this State and that guy was almost 200 miles away. There is no market for the vintage garden tractor parts I sell here, I'd say 50 percent of my sales go to Pennsylvania and 30 percent more go to Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and New Jersey. Very few buyers will risk out of state buying without the protection of eBay.

I've had various interest in that for several years now. It's a pretty incredible plant. So much so that back in colonial times, every farmer was actually required to grow it on a certain percentage of their farms. Just had a long talk with a doctor that I've consulted with about herbs for his family and he convinced me to try the Hemp Oil/CBD supplement for my back pain. Been sleeping like a rock and pain is reduced a lot.
Add in what an incredible textile fiber the plant is and it's potential for use as biofuel and you start to understand the criminal conspiracy that had it outlawed.
